Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 4 has kicked off with an epic crossover event including many Marvel heroes such as Iron Man, Thor and Wolverine.
Crossovers are nothing new in Fortnite with the game previously adding such well-known characters from Batman, Stranger Things and even the awesome John Wick.
This time is a little different though, as a whole season has been dedicated to well-known Marvel characters with a story plot in place.
Possibly just to be awesome, but more likely to coincide with next week’s release of the new Marvel’s Avengers game, an original Thor based story has been developed by Donny Cates and this has been crossed over with the new season of Fortnite.
“Fortnite x Marvel: Nexus War” is centered around a mysterious and powerful energy known as Zero Point and a villain known as Galactus.
Well-known heroes, and indeed some villains have suddenly found themselves on Fortnite Island as they prepare to help or hinder.
Judging from the trailer, this is one crossover that looks stunning whether you are a Marvel fan or not.
Marvel characters, and indeed D.C characters have been in Fortnite before, but this time around sees some new faces such as Victor Von Doom, She-Hulk and Storm.
Of course, with Iron Man being onboard comes some new toys to play with.
It seems that Stark Industries is alive and well, and quite willing to lend some shiny weapons to your fight.
Stark Supply Drones will hover around Quinjet landing sites and will deliver all kinds of goodies.
The Stark Industries Energy Rifle comes in the usual rare, epic and legendary variants and can be fired without even aiming however will deliver greater damage if you do so.
This is the standard firearm of Stark Industries robots and therefore can be found by defeating these enemies.
This powerful rifle can also be found inside Stark Supply Drones.
As usual, more content will be added to the current season on a weekly basis so for now, there isn’t too much.
However, Epic Games and Marvel have gone out of their way to develop a new story that any fans should appreciate.
As awesome as all the new skins are, some of them such as Wolverine require you to purchase the updated Battle Pass.
After purchasing the Battle Pass you must also complete special missions that have been added in order to obtain each character’s “Awakening“.
The Awakening is a special E-Mote that allows your character to suit up as your hero.
The Awakening E-Mote only becomes available after completing a series of challenges associated with a particular hero.
Just as people begin to think Fortnite is calming down or maybe losing some players, Epic Games pulls the hat out of the bag once more.
Given this week’s debacle with Apple, you would think Epic Games might sit on the fence a little, but they haven’t.
According to Apple, Epic Games breached their rules about in-app payments and have removed Fortnite from the Apple Store.
This has also resulted in what appears to be developing into a long and drawn-out legal battle.
Because of this, Epic Games has already confirmed that this update will not be available for iOS.
This amazing crossover and attention to what fans want along with the development of a new story only serves to strengthen Epic Games’ position when it comes to their flagship title.
From the amazing Batman content of late last year to Travis Scott and Marshmello performances, and now this, it seems that Epic still has big plans in place for Fortnite.
Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 4, Fortnite x Marvel is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC and Android.
