There’s some excellent handheld action on the way as Metro Redux for Nintendo Switch has been officially confirmed for release next month.
Switch gamers can soon get their hands on the eerie action shooter released for consoles and PC back in 2014.
Redux is a double-pack game that includes Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light, two of the best FPS games of the last decade.
Set in a dismal, future Russia, The Metro series of games offers a glimpse of the horrors that a nuclear war could bring.
Developed by 4A games and published by FPS veterans THQ, the Metro series has been a commercial success.
Upon release and due to initial bugs, the games were given a colder welcome by industry critics.
However, the same critics did praise the series’ atmosphere, story and excellent horror elements.
Praised for their foreboding atmosphere and desperate feel, the Metro games are a grim reminder of just how close the world came to this very possible future.
Following a devastating nuclear war, Metro 2033 takes the player on a desperate journey of survival through the maze-like tunnels of Moscow.

While it might sound easy enough getting from point A to point B in said tunnels, there is little lighting, you’re being hunted and there are things lurking in the dark.
Metro: Last Light is the sequel to 2033 and while it features most of the same gameplay and tunnel traversal, some parts of the game require play on the devastated surface.
Last Light is larger in scope and style than 2033 and inflicts more horror elements such as unknown sounds, shadows and occasional hallucinations.
Combat is also more difficult as weapons and ammunition have become more scarce, requiring scavenging missions.

Since Redux includes both of these excellent games, value for money is obvious.
However, the physical cartridge version of Redux also includes all previously released D.L.C for both titles.
Up to now, there has been no news of any Switch exclusive extras such as multiplayer modes, maps or exclusive in-game items.
However, it has been confirmed that you will be able to choose between two different play styles named Spartan and Survival.
Survival will present the games as a “Slow burn Survival Horror” while Spartan will throw more of an action-based game at you.
Ranger mode will also be included that pits you against the game with no HUD or U.I, harder combat and even more scarce resources.
Both of these titles were well received and scored well with popular online gaming outlets.
Gamespot gave 2033 and Last Light 8 and 9 out of 10 respectively, with other gaming sites scoring similar marks.
Playing both of these games side by side makes up one massive and epic story that no gamer should miss.
Metro Redux is scheduled for a Nintendo Switch release on 28th February 2020.
