The football association and the game’s creator have revealed a new NFL 2K game series.
Several initiatives seem to have been planned, but no specifics on what they are have been verified.
According to an announcement, 2K will likely prioritize multiplayer gaming, instead of team management, as Electronic Arts did with the Madden series.
David Ismailer, the president of 2K Games, has issued the following statement:
“The NFL is one of the most successful sports brands in the world, known for creating incredible entertainment for fans.We’re thrilled to be back in business with the NFL in a partnership that will span multiple video games centered on fun, approachable, and social experiences.”
The NFL and E.A. Games have long had an exclusive agreement, but it seems that the NFL now wants to share the spotlight with another company.
E.A. announced in a news release:
“E.A. Sports is the exclusive publisher of NFL simulation games, and our partnership with the NFL and NFLPA remains unchanged.”
NFL- 2K is a direct rival to E.A..’s renowned and immensely popular Madden franchise.
Additionally, E.A.. moved quickly to issue a statement reassuring fans that they would continue working on the Madden video game series and that their contract has not expired.
The new NFL 2K games may be under development with a more “arcade” style since E.A. refers to them as “NFL simulation games.”
Indeed, the games are still in the planning phases, and no information has been released.
Before E.A. and the NFL entered into their long-term agreement in 1999, NFL 2K was a highly popular iteration of American football games.
Until 2004, 2K Games produced NFL games for PlayStation 2, Dreamcast, and Xbox underneath the NFL 2K label, with ESPN collaborating on the final two games.
These games aren’t the first NFL 2K games, but they may be a nice substitute for E.A..’s very realistic Madden series.
E.A. was able to obtain a complete licensing agreement with the NFL in 2005 due to the creation of the most recent NFL 2K game.
Since then, E.A.. has had exclusive licensing rights as the primary creator of NFL video games under the Madden brand.
Although 2K hasn’t made any NFL games in a while, they have had great success with its NBA 2K series, which sometimes beats E.A..’s NBA Live series.
Guided by the National Hockey League, 2k was able to establish licensed hockey games as well, which also stood out as a strong rival of E.A.’s NHL series.
The options are straightforward when it comes to American sporting events.

Regardless of what 2K is creating again with the NFL, it will surely be a fantastic production, no doubt.
