It has only taken three years for an official Nintendo Switch custom bundle, but it’s finally being trialed in Japan for the time being.
At the moment, custom Joy-Cons and accessories are available to all consumers coming in a wide range of colors.
Currently, there are a few color combinations to choose from such as orange, red and blue.
The recently launched custom program in Japan has added some new colors such as hot pink, lime green and purple.

As well as some new colors, the service allows you to essentially build your own Switch bundle.
Samsung Micro SD cards for Nintendo Switch can be added into your bundle and includes from 32GB up to 512GB.
There’s also a whole host of games to choose from to add to your custom bundle.
Luigi’s Mansion 3, Pokemon Sword and Shield and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate are to name a few.
In addition, the bundle builder also offers some extras such as Switch Online subscription packages, Nintendo Switch carrying cases and a Switch Pro Controller.

Currently, not everything seems to be available, either because it hasn’t yet been implemented or because of stock issues.
While this is a step in the right direction for Nintendo, as it takes a lot of hassle out of searching around for Switch items, it is still a little lacking.

The addition of just a few new color options is a little disappointing, especially as there still isn’t a white or classic Nintendo grey variant.
This has been the focus of much contention when it comes to Switch customization as third-party sites offer a better choice.

However, there have been some issues with third-party wraps and decals as the standard adhesive chemicals can damage the plastic used in the manufacture of the console when being removed.
D-Brand, the skins company that first warned of the issue has now developed a range of Switch safe skins that can be applied to the handheld.
It’s great news that Nintendo is offering a wider range of options for the Switch and that you can get it all in one order.
However, I would like to see more options.
That being said, I can’t see any reason why Nintendo would not expand upon this service in the future, possibly when the bundle program hits Western shores.
For Japanese Switch customers, the custom bundle program is available now at Nintendo Japan’s official website.

I work for a graphics company and we were once creating thousands of decals overlays for consoles. Gamers love the opportunity to personalise their consoles and looks like Switch has jumped on that.
Great post, keep it up.
Hi Damon.
D-Brand has excellent decals that can be applied to the Switch safely now.
However, Nintendo has yet to release official decals, but more color customization is definitely a step in the right direction.
Thanks,
Michael.
