However Niantic, the game’s developer has released a statement confirming that the game will soon be no longer available for Apple Watch.
Currently the game is available to connect via Apple Watch from an Apple iPhone, allowing Trainers to use some features of Pokemon Go on the smartwatch which is synced to the full game.
Pokemon Go for Apple Watch incorporated fitness features into the game such as giving people a set walking distance in order to hatch a Pokemon egg as well as alerting when a Pokemon was in the vicinity.
However, in 2018 Niantic launched a new system called Adventure Sync that enabled players to import fitness data from Google Fit and Apple Health on smartphones.
The reason for the closure has been cited as Adventure Sync itself as the way in which it works requires only one device.
Niantic has stated that because Adventure Sync can import fitness data in one device rather than two, then they are to focus on developing Adventure Sync for a better user experience.
So because of their decision to close Pokemon Go for Apple Watch, then the app will no longer be supported after July 1st 2019.
