Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate Free on Epic Games Store

By | 21/02/2020

Epic Games Store has done it again and is now offering Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate free on its digital storefront for gamers and does not require a subscription.

While free games are common from vendors such as Sony and Microsoft, What sets Epic Games Store apart from others is that no subscription is required.

Epic Games gives away free games that change every Thursday and only requires a free account with the game client.

While not all the games are triple-A titles, they have given away some pretty large titles in the past.

Last September for example, to celebrate Batman Day, Epic Games offered the three Rocksteady Games Batman titles in the Arkham series.

These included Batman: Arkham Asylum, Arkham City and the latest Arkham Knight game.

Other games given away for free have included Alan Wake’s American Nightmare, Layers of Fear and Surviving Mars.

This week they are offering another large triple-A development with Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate.

Developed and published by Ubisoft and released in 2015, Syndicate is the ninth installment in the hugely popular Assassin’s Creed series.

Assassin’s Creed games are usually fictional stories set against some kind of historical backdrop that concerns the notorious order of The Knight’s Templar.

In Syndicate, twin Assassin’s Jacob and Evie must navigate the dark and twisted alleys of a crime-ridden Victorian London as they try to rid the city of Templar control.

The action takes place across a massive open-world version of the United Kingdom’s capital city which can be traversed using a form of Parkour across rooftops and through alleys or via horse and carriage.

The game’s story captures a real sense of Victorian and Dickensian London and references popular and/or notorious figures from the city’s intriguing history.

Such characters and stories include Sherlock Holmes creator Arthur Conan Doyle, a version of The East India Company and Jack the Ripper.

As well as showcasing exciting historical adventures, Assassin’s Creed is also known for its science fiction twist.

The stories in the games are actually being experienced by modern-day ancestors of the games’ characters.

This is done using a machine called Animus that can create a virtual reality for the user from the memories stored in their D.N.A.

There is usually some nefarious reason why someone is using the Animus which is operated by a shady organization thought to be the Templars themselves.

Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate was received very well by gamers and critics alike and was praised for being a fresh approach to a saturated series.

Respected review sites such as IGN and Gamespot scored the game highly with 8.2 out of 10 and 9 out of 10 respectively.

The title was also nominated for various awards but never won, thanks in part to 2015 being a competitive year for games.

Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate is available from now until next week for absolutely free from Epic Games Store.
