Listen, you smell something? It’s been a long time coming but The Sims 4 Paranormal Stuff is finally coming out.
The Sims series is no stranger to the supernatural world.
Previous packs and expansions have seen vampires, werewolves, aliens and witches.
Ghosts have always been a part of The Sims and The Sims 3: Ambitions introduced a Ghost Hunter career that was pretty awesome and based on Ghostbusters.
The Sims 3 also introduced playable ghosts which have been carried over to The Sims 4.
But the overall paranormal feel of the game has been something of a side note and a real paranormal pack is long overdue.
The new pack is seemingly bursting with all-new goodies with inspiration from both classic and contemporary horror stories.
Taking cues from movies such as Ouija and The Conjuring, Sims will be able to hold seances and even become Paranormal Investigators.
Other modern movie influences can be seen with the new cursed objects similar to Annabelle and The Dibuk Box.
Paranormal Investigation is a very popular TV and internet genre with famous investigators such as Zak Bagans, Katrina Weidman and more recently, Jack Osbourne.
However, Sims will first need to become a medium in order to get an investigator’s license and as with most Sims 4 packs lately, a new lot type is to be added, the Haunted House.
The Haunted House comes with residential ghosts that need to be appeased if your Sims are to get any peace.
This is necessary since Sims of a more nervous disposition can now be plagued with a “Scared” moodlet that makes them panic run and scream incoherently before hiding under the covers.
However, a new brave trait can be purchased that helps Sims keep calm when surrounded by unexplained phenomena.
Such phenomena is set to include flickering lights, rattling pipes and Specters, cute little ghosts that inhabit haunted lots.
Sacred candles and seance tables can help with the calming of a haunted lot and reduce the risk of negative encounters with the spirits.
Since its release in 2014, The Sims 4 has released many expansion packs and stuff packs that have added tons of new gameplay to the popular series.
Expansions such as The Sims 4: Get to Work have expanded the gameplay beyond the homes of Sims by actually going to play in your Sims careers such as detective, doctor, scientist and a retail business option.
Other packs have included new locations like The Sims 4: Snowy Escape which recently added the option for Sims to travel to Japan, another thing that was a long time coming for the game.
The Sims is an evergreen series that just keeps on giving and while the Sims Team can’t please everyone, they do a great job of adding tons of gameplay each year with the various packs.
I always look forward to a new Sims 4 pack as just when you think you can’t possibly have more fun, more fun is added.
The Sims 4: Paranormal Stuff release date is set for January 26, 2021.
