Beast Mode is a game-difficulty option in Enter the Gungeon. However, setting the game difficulty to “Beast Mode” will do absolutely nothing gameplay-wise in Enter the Gungeon.
The addition of the Beastmode toggle is simply a joke added by the devs meant to mock other games that feature absurd naming schemes for their most difficult in-game options.
Despite being a joke game difficulty option, completing the game with Beastmode enabled will unlock the Beast Master Achievement and the Bait Launcher weapon in Enter the Gungeon.
Players can activate Beastmode in Enter the Gungeon through the following steps:
- Go into the in-game menu
- Select Options
- Under Options, select Gameplay
- Check the box next to Beastmode
If you’re keen on getting the Beast Master Achievement and the Bait Launcher weapon in Enter the Gungeon, you will have to activate the Beastmode option right from the start of your Gungeon runs. Turning this option on will not have any adverse effects gameplay-wise.
The Bait Launcher is a C-rank weapon that fires steaks in Enter the Gungeon. Whenever the steak ammo comes into contact with anything in-game, it leaves a pool of red liquid (most likely myoglobin) and summons a tiger that will run and maul the nearest enemy.
Players can only unlock the Bait Launcher in Enter the Gungeon by killing the High Dragun with Beast Mode on.
Players can also sell the Bait Launcher for twenty-one bronze shells if they wish to do so.
The Enter the Gungeon devs definitely had a ton of fun adding weapons, characters, Synergies, and game modes to the game, and it shows in how they twist naming schemes and add game difficulty modes that make absolutely no sense in-game.
As intense as the Beastmode difficulty option in Enter the Gungeon sounds, it is merely a game mode added by the devs to mock other games that feature ridiculous naming schemes for their most challenging difficulty setting.
Beastmode will not affect anything gameplay-wise. Nevertheless, beating the game with this game mode enabled will reward the player with the Beast Master Achievement and the Bait Launcher weapon.
