There’re two iconic combat games this month as PlayStation Plus September 2020 update adds Street Fighter V and PUBG.
PS Plus tries to cover a lot of ground as Sony aims to please all of their player base all year round.
This is a very difficult task, as one would expect, so the free games for subscribers vary each month.
One month might be for first-person shooter fans while the next month might be for horror fans.
Last month saw a great update with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Campaign Remastered and an instant classic with new battle royale game Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout.
An instant smash hit and absolutely free for PS Plus subscribers last month, Fall Guys has become an instant meme and one of the biggest indie games ever, and it’s only been out for a month.
This month’s two games include the latest installment in Capcom’s classic fighting series Street Fighter and the original battle royale title PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.
Street Fighter V comes packing a punch this month.
Released in 2016, the two-player fighting game is set between Street Fighter III and Street Fighter IV with familiar heroes racing to stop Shadaloo from trying to take over the world, again.
The game is presented in the iconic 2-D arcade-style that the series is known for and plays pretty much the same way.
Light and heavy attacks can be landed to build the “EX Guage” which can then be used to perform special moves and finishers.
New to the game is the “V Guage” which fills when receiving attacks.
This can then be used for defensive special moves such as parries, counters and deflections.
The game’s fighter roster is very familiar with iconic characters such as Chun-Li, Ryu & Ken and M. Bison.
However, other iconic characters such as Guile, Balrog and E.Honda were added with seasonal updates.
It appears that this may have been done in order to introduce some new characters such as Laura, Rashid and Necalli all of whom are essential to the main story.

Street Fighter V was received well by most gaming outlets and fans alike with a Metacritic score of 77 out of 100 while also receiving an award for “Best Fighting Game” from The Game Awards 2016.
Because of games like Fortnite and Apex Legends, we all know what battle royale now is, as these have made the genre extremely popular.
However, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is the game that started it all.
Released in 2017 on Steam, the 100 player battle royale title has now become one of the most played games in the world.
Playing extremely similar to other games in the same genre, players must parachute onto a map, scavenge for items and weapons and then compete to be the last one standing.
Both of these games are pretty great deals since Street Fighter V is still quite expensive although it is listed on PlayStation Hits.
PUBG is also a paid game and isn’t free to play like most online battle royale games so the chance to get it for free should not be overlooked.
Both of these excellent games are available now for free as part of your PlayStation Plus September 2020 subscription.
