Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered is out now, with an online bundle, as a Timed PS4 exclusive with Xbox One and PC gamers having to wait another 4 weeks.
Activision has seemingly validated the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered rumors by releasing it for PS4.
However, it isn’t what you might expect and has also been delayed on Xbox One and PC for an entire month.
The release, titled “Campaign Remastered” isn’t a full remake of the classic shooter.
This remaster includes the story campaign only and utilizes current-generation technology.
Improved animations, HDR lighting and higher resolution textures are all included in the campaign.
Developed by Infinity Ward, the campaign for Modern Warfare 2 is one of the best in the series.
Task Force 141, consists of legendary operatives such as Ghost, Soap and Price as they venture across the globe against international terrorism.

The remastered version has no new elements, gameplay or characters to speak of.
It is essentially just an updated campaign, as advertised.
However, purchasing the game now, or pre-ordering for Xbox One and PC will grant the Underwater Demo Team: Classic Ghost Bundle for use in Modern Warfare online and Warzone.
The bundle includes an Operator skin, two weapon blueprints and a “Stay Frosty” voice quip among others.
Activision has previously stated that they will be developing new games and remasters for the foreseeable future.
The publisher has also stated that they are aiming for an annual Call of Duty release, although they haven’t given any specifics.
The annual releases happen around the start of Q4 so it appears that there is more Call of Duty to come.
Perhaps they will aim for a plan similar to other publishers such as Bethesda and Electronic Arts.
These publishers release annual large titles with smaller “filler” titles for series’ such as Elder Scrolls Online and The Sims 4 respectively.
Whatever their plan is, it seems that they are keeping their workers busy.
As well as new Call of Duty developments, there are regular updates for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare online.
Plus, Call of Duty: Warzone, a free and stand-alone variant of Modern Warfare online was released last month.
Warzone is a part of Modern Warfare online, however, it does not require Modern Warfare online to play.
While PS4 gamers might be delighted at today’s release of this remaster, it doesn’t seem fair.
Timed exclusives are a trend that I don’t feel is the right way to do business in the industry.
This model only serves to annoy and ostracise some gamers while fuelling the non-existent fanboy war.
Timed exclusives have become the fuel that keeps fanning the flames of the “console war” and it just leaves a large part of gamers out in the cold.
It needs to stop, and it needs to stop now.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered release date is scheduled for 30 April 2020 for Xbox One and PC but is available now for PlayStation 4.
