What does the Bullet That Can Kill The Past do?
The Bullet That Can Kill The Past is a special passive item that does not offer any immediate status buffs to any Gungeoneer in Enter the Gungeon. Instead, the Bullet That Can Kill The Past serves a lore-specific function that gives light to each Gungeoneer’s backstory.
The Bullet That Can Kill The Past is mainly used to unlock and access each Gungeoneer’s true ending in Enter the Gungeon. When used on most Gungeoneers alongside the Gun That Can Kill The Past, you can get a quick glimpse at each Gungeoneer’s past before they arrived in the Gungeon. The Bullet That Can Kill The Past is also needed to unlock The Gunslinger in-game.
Unlike most passive items in Enter the Gungeon, you must collect a few specific in-game items to build the Bullet That Can Kill The Past. All of which can be found on particular floors around the Gungeon.
How to Build The Bullet That Can Kill The Past?
You must collect four unique items to build the Bullet That Can Kill The Past. These items are:
- Prime Primer
- Arcane Gunpowder
- Planar Lead
- Obsidian Shell Casing
Unfortunately, these four items are strictly materials used to build the Bullet That Can Kill The Past. All four items likewise do not offer any special effects of buffs that can enhance your Gungeoneer’s stats in the Gungeon.
With that said, if you happen to acquire any one of the four items above, you must take the item/s to the Blacksmith in the Forge, where the Blacksmith will keep the items until you’ve collected all four materials to build the Bullet That Can Kill The Past.
You can do this through multiple Gungeon runs as well, which means you can go back and revisit the Blacksmith in the Forge without having to look for the same item you have already given them in the previous Gungeon run.
After you have successfully acquired the Bullet That Can Kill The Past the first time, you can simply give the Blacksmith another visit and acquire the Bullet That Can Kill The Past for free in your succeeding Gungeon runs.
Where to find all four parts of the Bullet That Can Kill The Past?
The four passive items required to build the Bullet That Can Kill The Past can be found in various chambers in the Gungeon.
The Prime Primer, Arcane Gunpowder, Planar Lead, and Obsidian Shell Casing can be found in increasing difficulty around the Gungeon, and some of these items require special tricks and methods to acquire in-game.
Prime Primer
The Prime Primer is arguably the easiest of the four materials to get in Enter the Gungeon. All you have to do is give the shop in the Gungeon Proper a visit and pay them 110 Bronze Shells to acquire the Prime Primer. Simple as that.
Arcane Gunpowder
You can find the Arcane Gunpowder in the 3rd Chamber of the Gungeon, also known as the Black Powder Mine. All you have to look for is an empty-looking room with ‘floating minecarts’. Don’t worry – the minecarts aren’t actually floating and are instead simply rolling on invisible rails.
The Arcane Gunpowder is a bit trickier to acquire, as it requires you to dodge roll from one minecart to another to reach the Arcane Gunpowder.
Planar Lead
Upon reaching the 4th Chamber of the Gungeon – the Hollow – you must look for another large empty-looking room. You must cross the emptiness to reach the Planar Lead located on the other side of the room.
Unfortunately, you cannot just walk over and hope for the best, as you will fall off the invisible path, and the path will also change.
A few tricks you can try to reveal the correct path are by shooting and reloading to leave shells on the ground which should tell you where a path lies. Another method you can try is to use a gun that leaves liquid on the ground, as these will reveal the path the same way the empty shells would.
Obsidian Shell Casing
There is no other way around it – you must beat the High Dragun to acquire the Obsidian Shell Casing in Enter the Gungeon. Why? Because the passive item is hidden within the High Dragun’s skull.
After defeating the High Dragun, destroy its skull to reveal the Obsidian Shell Casing. Pick it up and take it to the Blacksmith in the Forge to complete the Bullet That Can Kill The Past.
Conclusion
The Bullet That Can Kill The Past is one of few items in the game that does not offer any gameplay benefits for any Gungeoneer in Enter the Gungeon. However, it is a necessary item that will unlock one of the most powerful Gungeoneers in the game – The Gunslinger.
Acquiring the Bullet That Can Kill The Past is a necessary achievement that will unlock each Gungeoneer’s past and give you a good look at each Gungeoneer’s true ending.
