What does the Gnawed Key do in Enter The Gungeon?
The Gnawed Key is a passive item that is used to unlock the hatch to the Resourceful Rat’s Lair. You can purchase the Gnawed Key from the shop in the Gungeon Proper for 1000 Bronze Shells. After purchasing it the first time, you can buy the Gnawed Key from the same shop in the Gungeon Proper for just 115 Bronze Shells.
The Gnawed Key does not have any Synergies with other items and it does not provide any status buffs to any Gungeoneer in Enter the Gungeon.
The Gnawed Key does not offer any gameplay or statistical buff to any Gungeoneer in Enter the Gungeon, making it a useless item gameplay-wise. However, it is a necessary item that will allow you to access the Resourceful Rat’s Lair in the Gungeon, where you can face off with the Resourceful Rat in battle.
The Gnawed Key’s value can be found in its ability to give you a chance at collecting valuable loot after you successfully beat the Resourceful Rat in the Resourceful Rat’s Lair.
There are no known Synergies for the Gnawed Key in Enter the Gungeon.
The Gnawed Key only has one specific use instance in Enter the Gungeon, and that is to unlock the room with a weird-looking lock. Only the Gnawed Key is capable of opening this room in the Gungeon.
It is important to know that while you can simply buy out the Gnawed Key for 1000 Bronze at the shop in the Gungeon Proper, you will need to complete the Bullet That Can Kill The Past first, as the Gnawed key will not spawn prior to completing the special bullet.
Alternatively, you can also try and steal the Gnawed Key since it can be stolen with special items that allow you to steal from shops. Although the Grappling Hook and Directional Pad’s hook will not work.
The Gnawed Key is a necessary item that will give you access to the Resourceful Rat’s Lair in Enter the Gungeon. The key itself will not offer any status buffs or gameplay benefits, but it will give you a chance to face off against the Resourceful Rat and claim various random loot if you manage to beat him.
