What does the Gun Soul do in Enter The Gungeon?
The Gun Soul is an A-rank passive item that you can unlock by defeating the High Dragun.
Upon pickup, Gun Soul will instantly give you an additional heart container. Dying with the Gun Soul in your inventory will cause you to be respawned at the start of the current floor with one heart container.
You will retain all your current items and guns and the floor layout will remain the same. However, the enemies you have previously dealt with on the current floor will be respawned as well. You can return to normal only after you’ve arrived at the exact spot where you died on the same floor.
Is the Gun Soul a good item in Enter The Gungeon?
The Gun Soul is a good item in Enter the Gungeon because it gives you a chance to redeem yourself on the floor where you previously died. However, depending on which floor you died on, reaching your corpse on the same floor might pose a very difficult task since you will only have one heart container to work with.
The effect only lasts once as well, which means that if you die on your way to your corpse, your entire Gungeon ruin will end.
Best Synergy for the Gun Soul in Enter The Gungeon
The Gun Soul has three Synergies with three other items/guns in Enter the Gungeon – Crestfallen Soul, Praise the Gun, and \o/.
Crestfallen Soul is a Synergy between the Crestfaller and the Gun Soul in Enter the Gungeon.
Crestfallen Soul will increase dodge roll speeds by 20% and improve the Crestfaller’s damage output by 50% while you make your way back to your corpse on the same floor. The effect ends once you’ve interacted with your dead body.
Praise the Gun
Praise the Gun is a Synergy between the Old Knight’s Flask and the Gun Soul in Enter the Gungeon.
The Praise the Gun Synergy will spawn a bonfire in every shop and an elevator leading to the next floor in the Gungeon. The bonfire serves as a respawn point if you ever die with the Gun Soul in your inventory.
Praise the Gun also increases dodge roll recovery time, allowing you to perform dodge rolls more frequently.
If you have the Sunlight Javelin and the Gun Soul in your inventory, the \o/ Synergy between these two guns/items will become active.
Through the \o/ Synergy, killing enemies with the Sunlight Javelin will spawn a circular zone that ignites all enemies within the zone.
How to Use the Gun Soul in Enter The Gungeon?
The Gun Soul automatically activates as soon as you die on any floor in the Gungeon.Upon death, you will respawn at the very start of the current floor, but you get to keep all of the guns/items you had before dying.
However, you will respawn with just one heart container, making your re-run of the current floor extra difficult. You need to make your way to where you left your body on the current floor to return to normal.
Having the Crestfallen Soul Synergy can help greatly with your re-run, but you still only have one heart container to work with. The Praise the Gun Synergy, on the other hand, will let you spawn in the current floor’s shop, which should make retrieving your corpse much easier than if you spawned at the very beginning of the floor.
The Gun Soul will give you a last-chance run where you have only one heart container to work with while you try to reach your corpse on the current floor. While having a second chance to redeem yourself on the current floor is nice, the run will not be easy since all enemies you killed prior to dying will respawn as well.
