Enter The Gungeon – Orange

What does the Orange do in Enter The Gungeon?

The Orange is a single-use active item that can fully heal the player and grant an additional heart container upon use.

If the player chooses to hold on to the Orange instead, they will be granted an additional 2 Coolness, which will reduce active item cooldown by 10% and the chance for a chest to have a fuse by 5%.

On top of that, the Orange features Synergies with four other weapons/items in Enter the Gungeon.

Is the Orange a good item in Enter The Gungeon?

The Orange is a very good item in Enter the Gungeon due to its ability to fully heal the player and grant a heart container upon use. Players can choose to hold on to the Orange for the added Coolness or keep it ready for when the player’s HP gets too low.

Best Synergy for the Orange in Enter The Gungeon

The Orange features three Synergies in Enter the Gungeon – AK-47 (Island Forme), Cactus Flower, Enter the Fruitgeon/Oranger Guon Stone, and Pulp Gungeon.

AK-47 (Island Forme)

With the B-rank AK-47 and the Orange in the player’s inventory, the AK-47 (Island Forme) Synergy will be activated.

With the AK-47 (Island Forme) active, reloading the AK-47 with a full magazine will enable the Island Forme Synergy, which swaps out the AK-47’s normal projectiles for oranges that deal more damage than AK-47 bullets.

Consuming the Orange with this Synergy active will keep the Island Forme Synergy. However, reloading from full ammo will permanently revert the AK-47’s Orange shots to normal bullets.

Cactus Flower

If the player has both the Orange and the C-rank Cactus in their inventory, the Cactus Flower Synergy will become active.

Through the Cactus Flower Synergy, the Cactus will gain a chance to fire a prickly pear projectile that has the following attributes:

  • Bounces off walls
  • Shoots needles in all directions

However, if the player decides to consume the Orange, the Cactus Flower Synergy will be lost.

Enter the Fruitgeon/Oranger Guon Stone

With the Orange Guon Stone and the Orange in the player’s inventory, the Enter the Fruitgeon/Oranger Guon Stone Synergy will cause the Orange Guon Stone to:

  • Grow in size.
  • Rotate at a fixed distance from the player while moving.
  • Gain 2x fire rate.
  • Fire Oranges that deal 7 damage.

However, like the Cactus Flower Synergy, the Enter the Fruitgeon/Oranger Guon Stone Synergy will be lost if the player consumes the Orange.

Pulp Gungeon

The M1911 pistol and the Orange will combine to form the Pulp Gungeon Synergy.

Pulp Gungeon will spawn an M1911 pistol that orbits around the player and fires whenever the player fires as well.

Once again, if the player decides to consume the Orange, the Pulp Gungeon Synergy will be lost.

How to Use the Orange in Enter The Gungeon?

Players can either hold on to the Orange for the added Coolness or consume it to gain full health and a heart container.

Alternatively, players can hold on to the Orange to keep any of the Synergies we have listed above active. Consuming the Orange will deactivate all but the AK-47 (Island Forme) Synergy instantly.

Conclusion

The Orange is a versatile active item that provides buffs and bonuses regardless if the player chooses to keep the item in their inventory or consume it for an instant heal and additional heart container.

On the other hand, all of Orange’s Synergies are decent, providing a noticeable DPS improvement for the AK-47, Cactus, Orange Guon Stone, and a valuable passive ability with the M1911 pistol.

Players will be happy to have this wonder fruit in their inventory during Gungeon runs. The Orange offers too many pros and not a lot of cons (if at all) in Enter the Gungeon.
