How to Use Knowledge Transfer in Lost Ark

What is Knowledge Transfer?

Knowledge Transfer is a leveling mechanic that you can use to easily level up an alt character of your choice to Level 50. The process will require a specific amount of gold and is limited to just three Knowledge Transfers per main character.

There are four Knowledge Transfer options in Lost Ark, with the most important one being the North Vern Knowledge Transfer. The North Vern Knowledge Transfer not only bumps your character up to Level 50 but also gives you all the appropriate items to accommodate the Item Level for that level. Moreover, all previous quests leading to North Vern will automatically be completed through Knowledge Transfer.

Other Knowledge Transfer options include Rohendel, Yorn, and Feiton. However, these options will only push your alt characters to Level 50 and complete all the necessary quests leading up to each respective zone. As mentioned earlier, using Knowledge Transfer for these zones will only bump your alt characters to Level 50 and you won’t receive the necessary items to get to the required Item Levels for these zones.

How to Unlock Knowledge Transfer

To unlock Knowledge Transfer, you must reach Level 5 in your Stronghold and complete the North Vern questline leading up to Ealyn’s Gift. After you complete these two requirements, you should be able to talk to Adeline in your Stronghold and take on the Knowledge Transfer tutorial.

After you reach Stronghold Level 5 and complete the North Vern questline, head back to your Stronghold using the Song of Hearth and Home. Once you’re at your Stronghold, look for Adeline and talk to her to start the Knowledge Transfer tutorial quest. The tutorial quest will send you to Engineer Gotheilf just under the Lab. Complete the quest to unlock Knowledge Transfer.

Getting to Stronghold Level 5 is pretty much a given in Lost Ark since you’ll reach Level 5 naturally as you complete Stronghold tutorials. It is also just a matter of time until you complete the North Vern questline since the required quest, Ealyn’s Gift, is one of the last missions you’ll complete in your journey through North Vern.

How to Level Up Alt Characters Using Knowledge Transfer

With Knowledge Transfer unlocked, switch to the alt character you want to bump up to Level 50 and use the Song of Hearth and Home on that character to send that character to your Stronghold. Keep in mind that you’ll need to unlock the Stronghold on your alt character first (reach Level 11) before you can send your alt to the Stronghold.

Once that’s done, use your alt character and talk to Engineer Gotheilf at your Stronghold. Select the North Vern Knowledge Transfer option from there and pay the 600 Gold required to start the Knowledge Transfer. With that done, all that’s left is to wait eight hours for Knowledge Transfer to complete.

After eight hours, log back into your alt character and check the in-game mail. You should find the mail about Knowledge Transfer complete. Open the mail to get the necessary items for North Vern Item Level. As mentioned previously, all preceding quests leading up to North Vern will be completed and you should have enough Item Level to play through North Vern and beyond with the items provided in the mail.

Is Knowledge Transfer better than Powerpass?

Knowledge Transfer is not necessarily better than the Powerpass, especially when compared to Powerpasses for regions after North Vern.

Knowledge Transfer is only worth it for bumping up your alt character to Level 50 for North Vern, as the North Vern Knowledge Transfer is the only option that provides the necessary items to reach the necessary Item Levels for that region.

Powerpasses for North Vern and beyond not only bump up any character of your choice to Level 50 but also give your character the necessary items to meet the Item Level requirements for those regions.

Conclusion

Knowledge Transfer is a great option for getting your alt characters to Level 50 in Lost Ark. While it is not as straightforward as using the Powerpass, Knowledge Transfer can be a quick and cost-free way of getting your alts to at least North Vern levels in the game.

Reach Level 5 in your Stronghold and complete the North Vern questline leading up to Ealyn’s Gift, then talk to Adeline in your Stronghold and take on the Knowledge Transfer tutorial to use Knowledge Transfer in Lost Ark.
